Frequently asked questions.

How long will I be in therapy?

The length of time in therapy is your decision! I desire for my clients to feel empowered with their care. I usually suggest that the frequency of sessions taper off when you are no longer anticipating sessions as maybe you had before. This can be an indicator that your symptoms are lessening and you are able to handle obstacles with more independence. My ultimate goal is to work myself out of a job. We will have conversations throughout your time with me to discuss how the treatment is going from your perspective to ensure your needs are being met.

What are the payment options?

Therapy is a time and a financial investment. This is a way that we communicate to ourselves that we are valuable. I offer several payment options toward this investment.

I provide 50-60 minute sessions at the rate of $150/session.

I provide 90-minute sessions at the rate of $200/session.

I do accept certain insurance plans so you can utilize the benefits you already pay into. The insurance plans that I accept are Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United/Optum Healthcare, and Lyra. Your out-of-pocket costs will depend on your specific insurance plan.

If you have an insurance carrier that is not listed above, then I would be considered an out-of-network provider. In these cases, I can provide you with a superbill for you to submit directly to your insurance carrier to go toward your out-of-network deductible or to be reimbursed if you have out-of-network benefits. In these cases, your out-of-pocket cost will be the rate of either $125 or $175 depending on the length of session you scheduled.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, The No Surprises Act requires health care providers to provide a good faith estimate of expected charges for services to individuals who are not seeking to file a claim or utilize their insurance coverage for services.

  • You have a right to receive a good faith estimate outlining what your out of pocket cost for therapy services will be. It is advised to keep a copy of this estimate for your records.

  • A good faith estimate must be provided within 1 business day of a scheduled service. You also can request a good faith estimate from your therapist before the time of your appointment.

  • If you receive a bill that is over $400 of your good faith estimate, you have the right to dispute this bill.

For more information regarding the No Surprises Act, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

As your therapist, I desire to make the financial investment as transparent as possible so that your care can be the priority.

What is your cancellation policy?

I reserve the time just for you. Therefore I ask that appointments be canceled with at least 24 hours notice to avoid a late cancellation fee. I understand that there are situations outside of your control and will address this on a case-by-case basis. The late cancellation/no-show fee is $125 for a missed session. If you use insurance, you will be responsible for the reimbursement rate I receive for a billed session. That amount is dependent on which insurance carrier you have.

What happens in the first appointment?

In the first session, I want you to tell me as much or as little of your story that you feel comfortable sharing. We will discuss your expectations and any goals you have in mind for your treatment. I never want to pressure new clients to schedule follow-up sessions after our initial meeting. It is important to me that you feel comfortable with the therapist you are seeing and I understand I may not be the right fit for everyone.
